Some of you might have noticed a lack of presence in the last few months. There is a good but sad reason. My dad very unexpectedly got sick. After a short two months of trying to get him better, he eventually passed away. This has been very difficult for my entire family. He passed on December 16th, 2011 so the holidays were horrible and life continues to be "different". Since this all happened right in the middle of the holiday season, I didn't get to send out my holiday cards that I work very hard on each year. We still plan on sending them out at the end of this month.
With my dad's passing, I've gotten very passionate about a few things. One of them being Organ Donation. My dad needed a new liver. He was only listed for a week until it was too late, but if he had gotten a liver that week, this post might be very different. I was shocked to find out how few of my friends and family are organ donors. There are so many inspirational stories about organ donations, it seems silly to not be an organ donor in my opinion.
With all of this swirling in my mind on a minute to minute basis as I try to deal with my dad's passing, I decided to step up and take initiative. However small it might be, we sent out these Valentine's Day cards to our loved ones this year. I hope it inspires them like it inspires me.
It helps to think that somewhere, my dad is proud and smiling down on me. He would have liked these.
